All religions wait for the coming of a new teacher: Christians wait for the second coming of Jesus Christ, Buddhists believe in the future appearance of Maitreya Buddha, Muslims wait for Imam Mahdi and Hindus expect the Kalki Avatar. British artist and writer Benjamin Creme has for years claimed that these are all merely different names for one great teacher, and that teacher is already in the world.

The Emergence of the World Teacher Maitreya

Scottish-born Benjamin Creme has been traveling the world for decades talking about the emergence of a new World Teacher called Maitreya. Recently Creme announced that Maitreya has given several television interviews, albeit under a different name. According to Creme Maitreya has been emerging into the world together with a group of enlightened Masters called the Masters of Wisdom.

Creme says Maitreya is coming not as a religious leader but as a teacher and a guide. His most immediate task is to help humanity to create a new civilization that is based on “sharing, economic and social justice, and global cooperation”. Maitreya’s first priority is to help those millions of people who are dying of hunger today in a world that has enough food for everyone, and to inspire humanity to develop a new system of fair and just sharing of the world’s resources.

Signs and Miracles – “the Star”

Creme has for long predicted that the appearance of Maitreya will be accompanied by signs and miracles. In December 2008 he announced that a new bright star would emerge in the sky. Soon after the announcement sightings of the star started coming in from around the world and were published on the Share International website. Since early 2009 videos of the star have appeared on YouTube and photographs and reports of this mysterious light phenomenon have been published in newspapers. Creme says the star is actually not a star but spaceship, and is a sign of Maitreya’s imminent emergence.

The Share International Foundation

Creme’s teachings can be seen as a continuation of the writings of Helena P. Blavatsky, the founder of the Theosophical Society, and other late 19th and early 20th century theosophists. Creme works together with a non-profit organization called Share International that has local groups around the world. The Share International Foundation publishes Creme’s books and Creme is the editor-in-chief of the Share International Magazine. Creme has written several books on the subject of the reappearance of the Christ (Maitreya) but does not accept any royalties from his work.

Incarnations of God don't come to start political movements.

Lisette 16 months ago

And what was Jesus if not a political leader in his time?

Matt 16 months ago

You forgot to mention the 28 plus lengthy interviews Maitreya is supposed to have given in 2010 on a popular program on a major US television network. Of course the fact that there hasn't been any evidence of such interviews tends to diminish the credibility of Mr Creme and Share International

@Matt: I believe the sentence "Recently Creme announced that Maitreya has given several television interviews, albeit under a different name" would cover that?

@vrajavala: how do you know they don't?

Then again I don't think Creme claims Maitreya is an "incarnation of God".

Matt 15 months ago

@Sophie: Sorry, that is true, but you do diminish the nature of these Interviews by not specifying that they are on a Major US Television Network seen by 10s of millions. This is a huge unparalled event with over 30 years in the making. Many millions have waited for this time to see finally His face and hear His words of compassionate wisdom.

hirlrng 5 months ago

Matt/Sophie, from what I understand, the interviews are not limited to the US and have taken place in several countries already. They only began in the US. The reason for the anonymity of the appearances is so that people respond to the message, not the messenger.

Matt 4 months ago

Hirlrng - Do you know of anybody who has 'responded' to his messages. With many millions now having seen and heard him, I assume many would be openly discussing, debating and sharing what they have heard. I understand He has been interviewed openly now for almost 2 years.

The Occupy movement is certainly responding.

hirlrng 4 months ago

Yes, I do! Just look at the Occupy movement, the many protestors and activists that are diligently and non-violently forcing the 'powers that be' to address the problems of starvation in a world of plenty, pollution created due to corporate and individual greed due to the exploitation of fossil fuels when alternative and clean forms of energy not only exist, but are kept out of our reach (to name a few). These people are acting on the energies that have been steadily flowing from Maitreya over many years and is the impetus behind the recognition that we must live in correct relationship with each other and the planet. This is a shift in consciousness and is building momentum and potency - not all at once, but in a steady and mighty manner.

Matt 4 months ago

Thanks for your replies Sophie and hirlrng. Yes 30% are claimed to be responding to His energies, but the question I would like answered is how many are responding as a direct result of His Interviews. My research and questioning on all sorts of sites suggests no one has seen or heard Him speak on TV. And given that after 2 years there is no speculation about any individual who is speaking about sharing, peace and solutions to the world is very surprising.

From reading the Share International website for a number of years, the impression given is that his interviews would generate some response and that other media would report on them like the BBC. Do you not think it absolutely incredible that given the stature and potency of Maitreya and that many millions have now supposedly heard him speak that there is no 'buzz' or discussion or debate about his ideas or who He is?

I should point out, I've invested a lot of time and energy reading and learning about the emergence and telling people about Maitreya for over 10 years but in the last 1.5 years I've lost hope and find that the credibility of Share International is seriously low given the lack of any real evidence of these interviews and other factors.

Thanks Matt for the comment. I understand the frustration although I feel much more hopeful myself.

From the Share website I understand that Maitreya is still being interviewed not as Maitreya, but as an ordinary person. I have no idea if the interviews are low-key or major interviews and how the media deals with them, does He appear as an ordinary guy or a specialist or a professional, what sorts of programs He is interviewed in... and what I understand is that He's not coming out all guns blazing and declaring His manifesto, more like talking about these ideas of sharing gradually so they're easier for people to accept. (That's just my understanding, I could be wrong.)

I think people are actively looking for the interviews. There was the Raj Patel drama!

hirlrng 4 months ago

@Matt, one thing I've learned throughout the years is that time really is an illusion. My understanding of time as a human being born to live in a particular body of expression, kind of has a built-in hourglass! We know on some level from an early age that we have limited time to experience life before we move on to the next experience (70-90 years at best) - and so a certain urgency and impatience is kind of hard wired into us. I have learned not to be too bothered by the time element of how things happen & how long they take. (for example, 2 years since the interviews have begun - a small amount of time in the big picture). Fear rules us poor humans and even with exceptional knowledge, fear still dictates our actions. Even those who know about Maitreya and the Masters and have had personal experiences that validate their existence refrain from speaking about it out of fear of ridicule. The media is no different and the fear of losing their jobs is one of the biggies, along with ridicule.

An example where I have seen some change is to do with UFO's. Lately, some high profile people have been coming forward. For the longest time, when a report of a UFO came in, the US news reporting would be minimal and would aways make fun of the sighting or person claiming to see it. They would throw a sarcastic comment in or roll their eyes on camera - subtle ways to debunk the event to their viewers. HOWEVER, this past year, the reports have been flooding in from so many places around the world, that the reaction is less sarcastic and cynical. A marked improvement and an indication of a shift in thinking, I think . Not the overwhelming change we all would like, but a change nonetheless.

I guess what I saying is perhaps widening your view will let you see the progress that is going on and revive your hope! The sense of urgency and the awareness of need can make that a difficult thing to do, I 'get' that!

My understanding is that the Masters work in a more subtle fashion, not wanting to create great disturbances or more fear, but a slower, more permanent manner of change. Our collective thoughts have to change! That is a tall order! It took thousands of years to create the ones we now have... it may take a more time than we would like, with the Hierarchy's help, to reach a tipping point! (I do hope what I'm writing makes some sense!)

Peace and blessings.

Matt 4 months ago

Thank you both for your listening and understanding. I get what you are saying and I appreciate it. I think my main problem is that my expectations are too high as to what to expect and when - and that is partly due to what has been shared by Benjamin Creme/His Master to date. If I could just quote a few instances then I hope you can understand more my confusion and frustration.

"Q. How long will there be between Maitreya’s first TV appearance in America and the Day of Declaration?

A. ... I believe, from what I have been told by my Master, that it will be very quick. But when a Master says ‘soon’ he does not mean ‘tomorrow’, as we might think. 'Forthwith', which was the Master’s latest statement about Maitreya’s appearance, can mean 'anything up to a year', and 'soon' or 'very soon' could be anything up to a few years."

"Don’t forget that as He speaks during an interview there is also an internet broadcast in most cases. These are high-powered television interviews from major TV programmes and via the internet He can be heard and seen by millions at the same time."

October 2008:

"Q. (1) How will we know when Maitreya is going to appear?

A. (1) It is very soon. Watch your television."

(Watching TV hasn't helped me to see Him - and I know what to look for)

"Maitreya will speak to millions of men through television and radio. All will have the opportunity to share in His blessing which will accompany every appearance. Thus the people worldwide will become familiar with His message and the uplifting of their hearts. Much speculation will surround His identity and many will be the theories presented"

Reading the April 2010 SI online mag provides numerous example at the current reaction and expected impact of Maitreya thoughts and ideas on the people. As I questioned earlier, how can it be there that there is no sign of this anywhere.

I guess it's really is a case of the usual "just wait and see", very much like the 30 years before His public emergence. How long can people wait before they start to question things?

Dear Matt, I totally understand your concerns & doubts! I guess the way my mind works, this issue of time does not disturb my inner 'knowing' of truth when I hear it. I have no doubt about the information. As for timeline, well, time is an illusion and is indeed highly mutable.

I know that the issue of time is hard to overcome - I certainly have not, but I have - for whatever reason - not been bothered by the inexactitudes of time concerning the Day of Declaration and the lead up to it. It will happen when the time is right. That is really determined by us (humanity as a whole). Our actions and reactions to the things happening in the world is what will bring Maitreya out into FULL view. We have always been responsible for invoking His presence - not Benjamin Creme or Benjamin Cremes Master. Things change depending on humanities actions. The timeline suggested by Mr. Creme's Master may have been quite accurate when given.

I am very aware of the shift in more and more people's thinking and actions - just in day-to-day conversation, I see the impulse to think about acting more inclusively is taking root. Action is next (and has already begun!). Remember, Maitreya is not a savior, He is a teacher. The work is ours to do (with the beneficent guidance from Maitreya and His group of Masters).

If I may, I would suggest that you try not to get too hung up on the details and take a broader view, look at the whole, rather than its parts. There, progress is easier to see.

Here is something to think about: We already know the message and if it resonates in your heart as truth, I wonder, is it really that important to see the messenger? Even if you do, what would change? Is it possible that you have seen the Messenger (Maitreya(, but did not recognize Him because you were looking for something bigger than he may be presenting himself? My understanding is that He is being quite subtle. He is not trying to create a combative, argumentative scene that would further divide us.... just something to consider :-)

Matt 4 months ago

To answer your question: Yes the message totally resonates in my heart, and i'm sure to many millions who desire a better world. If I saw for myself or even heard from another person that they had seen any of the 50 interviews, it would give me hope that this is for real, and the world will change as Share-International has been promising.

The interviews are the most important step towards the Day of Declaration. And the Day of Declaration is the only way the world can come together quickly as a means to start healing and rebuilding the world on the principles of sharing and brotherhood. It's only a few years before we are at risk where the damage to the planet becomes irreversible as Benjamin Creme has often said. So time does count for something here. (Its unlikely to change soon with the current political systems deeply entrenched in place. Obama vs Romney - what's the difference in the next 4 years?)

It's taken two years to have interviews in 3 countries, with no apparent public debate, speculation or discussion as predicted by Share International. How many more years before he speaks in Japan, Russia, UK, France, Germany etc. At the current rate it might be another 7 years.

As a final point, and i do appreciate you taking the time to address my concerns. My viewpoint may not be a wider one but one that is grounded on simple logic, and I don't think the emergence of Maitreya should be exempt from applying it here.

My logic is this:

Many millions of Americans of have watched the interviews.

Many millions of Americans long for a better world, and would identify and resonate with the teachings and ideas of Maitreya as presented in his interviews, and would be excited to share this with their networks on twitter, facebook, and other means. (as you know they do this prolifically on all sorts of things they see online or on TV - whether its meaningful or not.)

Maitreya gave 29 interviews in one year on "High powered" TV programmes.

There is an abundance of left and right leaning political and media based blogs that monitor daily the TV interviews shows on the major networks and cable. eg Huffpost, Dailykos, Crooks and Liars, and hundreds more. Not one from my research has picked up on these interviews and discussed, agreed or disagreed with what was said. This is incredible - not forgetting all the commentators on these blogs. When I have asked other SI volunteers who comment on these blogs whether they have seen the interviews, not one has said yes, but give similar responses to you or Sophie.

So logically, given the numbers of interviews, the nature of the them, that Maitreya is not your usual guest, the huge TV audience, the prominence of the TV network, the number of watchers and reporters on these shows, the agreement of many to the ideas presented, the exponential linking and sharing of info on the web, the lack of confirmation from fellow SI volunteers, - what could be the possible explanation for the lack of visible response to His interviews?

Either no-one care about what He is saying and therefore can't be bothered to share their thoughts on them, or the Interviews are not happening as outlined by Share-International. None of these two options seem plausible, but there you go.

hirlrng 4 months ago

Hi Matt,

You have certainly given all of this a great deal of thought. I wonder, have you considered that perhaps people are choosing NOT to answer the question regarding whether or not they have seen an interview they believe was Maitreya?

Those who have followed the story and have read the books about the Ageless Wisdom Teachings from many sources including but not only from SI, may be practicing what is called occult silence. (defined as knowing what to say and when to say it.) Those who have read the information, studied and followed over years this story, may not have to see Him! He is already known to us.

I do not believe that no one cares, having personally witnessed incredible care and action by many, many people who have never heard the name Maitreya uttered. Most people do not have the information that you have and wouldn't know that they are seeing a great teacher. They may hear a man presenting ideas that are altogether new - even foreign - and don't know quite what to do with that information outwardly (yet). Things take time to unfold. They happen in their right time, not mine :-) The Masters have the great benefit of non attachment and the ability to see what lies ahead in a way we do not. For me, the time element must be put aside, in spite of the great urgency we all feel. We are witnessing the death throws of the old ways, rife with selfishness, greed and violence. To me, that is a good sign of what is to come.

I hope this helps you in some way

Peace!

All is good. I found someone's experience.

“He spoke very quietly and simply, in perfect English, never repeating a phrase or sentence and his words seemed to penetrate your mind, your whole body, so that you believed them, you knew he was speaking the truth — you didn't have to ask any questions. He talked about the need to change our direction, our ways of living, the need for co-operation, justice.

He was extraordinary, like us and yet not like anyone I have ever seen. He had an extraordinary calm about him. We all agreed that he was most remarkable; he had the same effect on my friends."

-----------

"Prepare to see me soon.

Prepare to see Me in full physical presence, and miss Me not.

Look for a man Who will show you the Path to God through sharing and justice.

In simple terms indeed shall I speak to you, and bring you to the manifestation of your fullness to Gods.

Carefully I present my face to the public.

Gradually I become known.

In this way, within the Law, I reveal Myself anew.

Take care, My friends, to miss Me not.

Search well among the teachers."

Extract from Message 114.

Peace!
